Pain in your tooth? It may be a problem in the root!

If you are feeling prolonged sensitivity, pain or swelling around your tooth,you may be in need for a root canal.

Why perform a root canal instead of pulling your tooth? The pulp found inside your tooth is merely a nerve whose function is only secondary once the tooth has reached maturity. Removing the pulp will not affect any of your day-to-day functions so it is important to try to save your natural tooth instead of trying to replace your tooth.

A root canal is very similar to getting a filling. Once the pulp inside the tooth is cleaned out, the tooth is then disinfected . Sometimes if there is a more serious infection, treatment can be filled into the space and a temporary filling is put into place until the infection has cleared. Otherwise, you will receive a normal filling.
